TIME and EXPERIENCE went live in October 2009.  It is putting in place a system for introducing capable and independent men and women to organisations who can use their skills – not necessarily in conventional employment but as consultants, mentors, for business development or to meet extraordinary needs. In addition, by meeting with one another in reality or through the website, members may develop enterprises and ideas for self-employment which they could not do in isolation.

There are around 1 million people in England and Wales who have retired at State Pensionable Age, taken early retirement or been forced out of work through redundancy or short-term illness but who still seek the stimulation and sense of purpose which having a job to do brings. Many of them “want to give something back”.  Many also need to supplement their pensions with a modest or occasional income.

Over 25%  of these are classified as “professionals and executives”.

Changing demographics mean that the UK cannot afford to ignore this diverse pool of expertise, experience and energy. Only TIME and EXPERIENCE provides a direct link

The TIME and EXPERIENCE model was  piloted in NW England during 2010 and early 2011  and the demand, among both individuals and prospective employers, was confirmed.  However it was a victim of changing strategies and funding cuts before it could be rolled out beyond regional boundaries. It is now being re-developed and both private and corporate members are welcome from the whole of the UK.
